Len Backhouse was a founder member of the Stowmarket & District Camera Club and the only Life Member. Len became part of the Club shortly after it was reconvened and devoted an enormous amount of time and effort to the running of the Club. He organised the raffle until he suffered an accident which, sadly, left him incapacitated. The trophy in the form of a clock was dedicated to Len who died in June 1997.
Len was predominantly a slide worker and the Len Backhouse Trophy is now open to projected digital image workers only. It is a wonderful timepiece in commemoration of a man who gave his time so freely and will keep his memory alive.
